Indications
This medication is used to treat upper respiratory tract illnesses that are accompanied by a productive cough.
Pharmacology
This remedy combines expectorant, decongestant, and antihistamine properties. Guaifenesin is a laxative. It aids in the loosening of mucus in the throat and chest produced by a common cold, infections, or allergies. Levomenthol relieves congestion, making it easier to breathe. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that works by reducing the effects of the body's endogenous chemical histamine.
Dosage & Administration
12 years and above: 10 ml 4 times a day.
Contraindications
Patients who have a known hypersensitivity to Guaifenesin, Levomenthol, or Diphenhydramine should avoid this combination. This combination should not be taken if monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) have been taken in the previous two weeks. Children under the age of 12 should avoid this combo.
Side Effects
Swelling of the face, lips, and/or tongue, allergic responses, numbness, sleepiness, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth/nose/throat, nausea, and vomiting are all possible side effects.
Pregnancy & Lactation
There is no information on the usage of this combination during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions & Warnings
This combination should be avoided by those with liver, kidney, or prostate problems. Alcohol should be avoided at all costs. If you're taking any additional medications, such as mild tranquilizers, barbiturates, or codeine, proceed with caution. Patients who are taking this medication should exercise caution when driving or using machinery.
